100% Natural Soy Wax

Soy wax is a highly renewable resource, naturally derived from soybeans. Soybeans are a staple of North American agriculture, meaning CANOE sources from North American farmers, supports jobs close to home and reduces the shipping footprint of our raw materials.

Many candles use less expensive paraffin wax, which is a byproduct of crude oil refinement or coal processing. By comparison, soy is a cleaner, renewable alternative that burns longer in candles while producing less soot than paraffin.

Soy is a natural product and there are no additives in Canoe candles. This means soy is prone to changing with temperature and may pull away from the glass if exposed to variable temperatures. This will not impact candle performance.

After burning, your candle may reharden with a rough texture on top. This is normal for 100% soy wax as the structure rehardens in a non-uniform way - consider this proof that your candle is 100% natural soy!

Premium Reusable Rocks Glass

Canoe's 10oz candles are poured in premium, heavy-base 12.75oz rocks glasses, made in France. We intentionally leave our containers free of color, frosting or permanent branding so the glass can be cleaned and reused for your favourite beverage. Build your premium barware collection while diverting waste!

Run the label under warm water to soften the adhesive before removing.

The wick tabs are glued in place to prevent wicks from floating as the candle burns down. Simply use a spoon to remove the wick tab from the glass and to remove any excess wax and adhesive. Hot water and dish soap will remove most of the glue and wax, and we suggest peanut butter to remove any remaining adhesive residue. It's the natural choice! A dedicated adhesive remover, such as Goo-Gone, will also work.

The glasses are dishwasher safe.

Phthalate and Paraben Free

Canoe exclusively uses fragrances free of phthalates and parabens. These compounds are binding and preservative agents often found in candle fragrances. However, they have been linked to endocrine disruption and may aggravate allergies and asthma.

Fragrances Meet International Fragrance Association Standard

At Canoe, we only use clean burning waxes and fragrances that have been proven safe for humans and pets. We exclusively use fragrances that have been tested and approved by the International Fragrance Association (IFRA).

100% Cotton Wicks

CANOE's 10oz candles and tealights only use 100% braided cotton wicks. No zinc or tin cores are present in our wicks.

Should I Trim The Wicks?

10oz Wicks

CANOE's wicks do not contain a zinc or tin core - they are 100% woven cotton. This means they will droop as they burn. To maximize burn time and maintain a clean burn, we recommend trimming the wicks if they begin to mushroom or exceed 1/4" in length.

If the wicks develop excessive mushrooming and are not trimmed, the end of the wick may dip into wax and extinguish itself. If this occurs, extinguish the candle, then trim the wick to 1/4" before the next burn and your candle should return to normal performance.

Tealight Wicks

CANOE's 100% cotton tealight wicks do not require trimming.

What Should I Do If My Candle Is Tunnelling?

Tunneling refers to a candle melt pool that does not reach all the way across the glass. This may be caused by a candle which is extinguished too quickly after lighting. The heat does not have enough time to melt the wax all the way to the edge of the glass.

Within the first few burns of the candle, some wax may remain on the sides of the glass furthest from the wicks. This is normal and CANOE's wicks generate enough heat as the candles burns down that this wax will melt as the candle is consumed.

If the candle must be extinguished before it reaches a full melt pool or before 3-4 hours has elapsed, ensure the subsequent burn is 3-4 hours and the candle should return to normal performance.

How Long Should I Burn My Candle?

The general guideline is to burn a candle for the same number of hours as the width of the container in inches. For our 10oz Candles that are 3.25" wide, we suggest burning for 3-4 hours sessions. This will ensure a full melt pool and great fragrance throw.

For safety reasons, candles should not be burned for more than 4 hours at a time.
